bought these for my son, age 12, to wear at camp. He is a 4.5 m, so I bought a 4.5 M. He said they were too small, so I gave them to my son for 10 years which is a 3.5 M and he fit perfectly (with a little room to grow). so, I bought a 5.5 M for 12-year-old son and they fit great with room to grow. --especially with additional removable liner.
